It is always a pleasure for the Dipharma group to be invited to the annual National Congress of the Italian Chemical Society
(Società Chimica Italiana – SCI) to contribute scientifically. This year, the XXVIII edition is taking place in Milan, Italy, from August 26th to 30th.

On August 29th our colleagues Michela Zuffo and Roberto Rossi
, R&D Researchers, will be presenting as speakers on the following topics:

  • Michela Zuffo will present the following oral contribution: “AZIDES MANIPULATION: DANGER IS NOT OUR MIDDLE NAME”. This will focus on our company’s expertise in safe handling dangerous chemicals and in particular azides, exploiting it to provide high-quality products and services to our customers.
  • Roberto Rossi will deliver his lecture on “PURGE RATIO VS SPIKE & PURGE, WHO WINS? A REAL CASE DURING AN API PRODUCTION”. In the quest to meet Regulatory Agencies’ standards for the production and release of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), many factors must be considered. Ensuring that the specifications for starting materials and intermediates are stringent enough to produce an API that complies with ICH regulations often requires substantial time and financial investments. But can a theoretical approach, which aims to minimize costs and timelines, truly replace experimental studies while providing the same level of assurance? Roberto Rossi will present a compelling case involving a critical impurity detected in the early stages of synthesizing Sodium Phenylbutyrate.  In the work carried out, the theoretical “Purge Ratio” approach of determining the fate of each impurity was compared with the experimental approach of “Spike & Purge” of the impurity previously identified and synthesized.
